Whinlatter is the only mountain forest in England and “The
Cottage” is situated atop the Whinlatter Pass with superb views
down the valley to the mighty Skiddaw, one of Europe’s oldest
Mountain ranges. The woodland garden plays host to a wide variety
of wildlife including red squirrels and numerous species of birds.
Viewing points for the Bassenthwaite Ospreys are located nearby.
Across the beck, you may catch sight of our resident alpacas and
pigs.
The Hotel provides a peaceful and tranquil location, yet is situated
only ten minutes drive from the bustling market town of Keswick.
We are ideally situated between the lakes of Bassenthwaite, Derwentwater,
Buttermere and Crummock Water.
For the energetic, there is a range of superb walks and cycle trails,
whilst “The Cottage” provides an ideal base for touring
and exploring England’s most beautiful corner.
