Whinlatter offers a host of wild foods. It’s not the best for fungi as it is predominantly a coniferous forest. Just the same, we have a smattering of fungi over the year, not all of which are edible.
The Autumn is an exciting time for us here in the Lakes and Whinlatter. The Forest begins to change colour, the bracken turns to brown and we have a multitude of fungi around. As you might expect, the wildlife is busy ‘stocking larders’.
